The ABC has topped the Australian Podcast Ranker for June with a podcast that averages just over 6,000 downloads an episode.

The national broadcaster’s short-form news bulletin podcast ABC News Top Stories issued 415 episodes throughout June, with 2.5 million downloads between them.

With a monthly listenership of 781,067, according to Triton’s ranker, the podcast managed to topple Hamish and Andy from the top spot. Hamish and Andy released four new episodes in June, to 776,321 listeners – and 1.5 million downloads.

ABC’s Mushroom Case Daily scored 3.35 million downloads across 29 episodes, to land in third place this month – its highest placement to date, and no doubt its peak, given the trial it followed has come to an end. Then again, there’s still the sentencing to come. Stay tuned!

ABC News Daily and Conversations also performed well for the national broadcaster, with 1.17 million and 2.1 million downloads respectively, and monthly listenerships of 405,000 and 365,000.

Mamamia Out Loud slipped to fourth place, with 537,000 listeners and 1.74 million downloads, while Shameless held in fifth, with 501,000 listeners, and 941,000 downloads.

Big movers in the highest reaches of the chart, include Life Uncut (up from #10 to #7) Sky News Australia Update (from #12 to #8), Dear Rachelle (#15 to #11), and News Corp’s The Mushroom Cook, which leaped from #23 to #16.

Kyle and Jackie O suffered the biggest fall in the ranking, dropping from #6 to #14.
