Hamish and Andy and Casefile are again #1 and #2 on the Triton Podcast Ranker — no surprises there — however ABC News have landed their short and sharp top stories wrap in the top reaches of April’s chart.

ABC News Top Stories debuted at #3 in the overall rankings, with 669,000 listeners in April. The podcast offers a summary of the day’s key news stories in under two minutes, and is “created specifically for digital audiences”.

To make way for the new entry, Mamamia Out Loud, Shameless, The Imperfects, and Conversations have all shuffled down a spot – while, interestingly, Kyle and Jackie O have fallen two spots. Maybe Melbourne listeners are no longer downloading the podcast, but instead tuning in live. We’ll see, come radio ratings time.

The other Top 20 debut comes from News Corp and NOVA, with their true crime podcast The Mushroom Cook, on the trial of Erin Patterson.

“The fantastic performance of ABC News Top Stories demonstrates its value and the audience demand for a quality news service in the podcast age,” said ABC news director Justin Stevens.

The ABC has more titles in the top 200 than any other publisher, with 33 titles featured in the list.
